Mumbai Building Collapse: 10 killed in Mumbai four-story building collapse; Rescue work underway; 5 lakh compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.

A four-story building collapsed in Naik Nagar, Kurla, Mumbai late on Monday night. Ten people have died after being buried under the rubble.

Maharashtra government minister Subhash Desai has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and free treatment for the injured.

The civic body official said that the rescue operation is on. Fire brigade and police teams have reached the spot to rescue the people trapped under the debris.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the condition of 12 people rescued from under the rubble is stable.

NDRF Deputy Commandant Ashish Kumar says that there is no confirmation of how many people are still trapped.

As per BMC’s data last night, 7 people were rescued with 20-25 people likely to be trapped under the rubble.

Councilor Praveen Morajkar told media persons here, ‘A four-story building collapsed in Naik Nagar. The rescue operation is being carried out by the fire brigade team and the police.

The councilor said, ‘The condition of seven people rescued from under the rubble is stable. 20 to 25 people are likely to be buried under the debris. The rescue operation is on.

Aaditya Thackeray reached the spot.

Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray visited the spot and took stock of the situation. Aditya Thackeray said that so far 5 to 7 people have been evacuated, and they have been taken to the hospital.

All four buildings were given eviction notices but many people still live there. Our priority is to get the building vacated and the building demolished.

Aaditya Thackeray further said that whenever BMC issues notice, the buildings themselves should be vacated…otherwise, such incidents happen, which is unfortunate, now it is important to act on it.

According to the police, the rescue operation is on. More information is being gathered from the spot.
