NCB Made The Fifth Arrest In Shaheen Bagh Narcotics Case
NCB made the fifth arrest in the Shaheen Bagh narcotics case.
One more person has been arrested by the NCB in connection with the probe into the seizure of 50 kg of heroin from Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area.
In this case, a person has been arrested by Laxmi Nagar on Sunday. This is the fifth arrest in this case.
Earlier in April, two Indians and two Afghan nationals were detained by the anti-narcotics agency after raids in South Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh-Jamia Nagar.
NCB made the fifth arrest: SN Pradhan, Director General of NCB gave a statement.
All the accused have been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic (NDPS) Act.
NCB Director General SN Pradhan said last week that the links of terrorism with this drug trafficking case cannot be ruled out.
In such a situation, the matter is being investigated from the aspects. The NCB on Thursday said it has recovered 50 kg of heroin wrapped in packets from Flipkart and other e-commerce companies.
The agency claimed to have busted an Indo-Afghan drug smuggling racket after it raided a residential complex in Shaheen Bagh-Jamia Nagar.
NCB Deputy Director General (Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh had said that Rs 30 lakh in cash was also recovered after raids at residential premises in South Delhi.
The official said that this is the biggest seizure of drugs in Delhi, that too from a residential area. He further said that another 47 kg of ‘suspected’ narcotic was also seized from the premises.
The NCB has sent him to the laboratory for examination. He said the seized heroin was smuggled from Afghanistan and the cash is suspected to have been brought through hawala.
Singh said an Indo-Afghan gang operating in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) and neighboring states is associated with the case.
A senior official had said that the gang leader lives in Dubai and the agency is investigating the matter further.
