Lashkar handler Abdul Rauf shocked by NIA court, bail plea rejected. The NIA court denied bail to Lashkar-e-Taiba handler Abdul Rauf Badan, accused of running a drug trafficking network in Jammu and Kashmir and financially nurturing terrorism and separatism, saying Rauf faces serious charges and granting bail to such a young person means security for the country. It would be like jeopardizing the future of the generation.

Rauf was booked under the NDPS Act, IPC, and Unlawful Activities Act five years ago and was arrested in August 2022. The court found that the accused smuggled heroin and arms across the border and also collected money to promote terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

NIA Court Rejects Bail: He worked like a courier

The court found that out of the witnesses produced by the NIA against the accused, the statements of 30 witnesses are yet to be recorded. The accused has important links to Pakistan-based handlers and received large sums of money from Pakistan in exchange for drug and arms smuggling. The accused has also created assets worth crores of rupees.

The NIA court found that if the accused were released on bail at this time, it would affect the investigation of the case and also deal a blow to the efforts to break the network. Therefore, the NIA court rejected the bail application.
