On January 12 this year, the National Investigation Agency charge-sheeted eight people, including a life convict and two absconders, in Bengaluru.

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has a conspiracy of jail radicalization to carry out a ‘fidayeen’ (suicide) attack.

The accused included in the chargesheet also include T Naseer of Kannur district of Kerala, who has been serving life imprisonment in Bengaluru Central Jail since 2013.

What is the whole matter?

The case was registered by the Bengaluru City Police on July 18, 2023, following the seizure of arms, ammunition, hand grenades, and walkie-talkies from the possession of seven accused persons.

The recovery was made when all seven people had gathered at the house of one of the accused.

In October 2023, the NIA assumed control of the case’s investigation. In the year 2017, accused T. Naseer came in contact with other accused.

Salam was in jail in a POCSO case. Intending to radicalize and recruit them into Lashkar, Naseer had managed to shift all of them to his barracks after carefully evaluating their potential.

Initially, he was able to radicalize and enlist Salman and Junaid to support Lashkar’s operations. After this, he along with Junaid conspired to radicalize and recruit other accused.
