NIA starts an investigation into Bengaluru communal violence, two FIRs registered in the case: Bengaluru violence. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into two incidents of communal violence in Bangalore on the night of 11 August.

On the other hand, Bangalore’s Anti-Terrorism Cell has arrested two accused from Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the 2008 serial bomb blasts in Bengaluru.

Joint Commissioner of Central Crime Branch Sandeep Patil said on Tuesday that Bangalore’s Anti-Terrorism Squad along with central agencies arrested Shoaib and Gul Nawaz. Shoaib was instrumental in the 2008 Bangalore bomb blast.

Shoaib, a resident of Kannur in Kerala, was absconding since the attack. He returned from Riyadh yesterday along with his partner Gul Nawaz. Gul Nawaz is a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
