NIA To Investigate Multani’s Role In Smuggling Through Drones

NIA to investigate Multani’s role in smuggling through drones, case registered under UAPA.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has indicated that it will also probe Germany-based member of Sikh for Justice (SFJ) Jaswinder Singh Multani for his involvement in the use of drones for cross-border smuggling.

The NIA has recently registered a case against Multan under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). According to a source, the drones were used to smuggle arms, ammunition, explosives, and drugs.

According to the statement, Pakistan-based terrorists backed by ISI are involved in this. Jaswinder is in touch with them.

NIA to investigate Multani’s role: He also has an Indian link who receives smuggled weapons, explosives, and drugs. By this, he is spreading drugs and weapons in India.

We are probing it and gathering evidence in this regard. Last year, around 70 drone sightings were reported along the border in Punjab and Jammu.

These drones were used by elements based in Pakistan to supply arms and narcotics to India. Some drones were shot down by the Border Security Force.

Multani was booked by the NIA with collaborators for conspiring against India.

A case was registered against Multani and his other associates on December 30 under sections 120B, 121A of the IPC and sections 10, 13, 17, 18, and 18B of the UAPA.

An NIA official said Multani was detained in Berlin by German authorities following inputs from Indian agencies.

He later gave an affidavit to the German government that he would cooperate with the investigation. The German government later released him.

The official said that Multani, along with several other pro-Khalistan elements based abroad, had been motivating and recruiting youth in Punjab through internet media platforms to propagate their ideology with the aim of separating Punjab from India.

He has been involved in raising funds to buy arms, ammunition, and explosives using smuggling networks in Punjab to revive terrorism.

Multani has also been in touch with ISI operatives to carry out terrorist attacks in Mumbai and other parts of India.

A team of senior officials has been formed to probe the matter. The NIA wants to bring Multani back to India so that he can be prosecuted.
