Nine Terrorists Of Islamic State Killed In Deadly Airstrike In Iraq

Nine terrorists of the Islamic State were killed in a deadly airstrike in Iraq.

Nine militants of the extremist Islamic State (IS) group were killed on Saturday in an airstrike in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala.

Iraq’s defense sources said a local IS leader was also involved in the attack. Since the beginning of this year, there have been a series of drone and rocket attacks targeting the US presence in Iraq.

The January 21 attack, in which 11 soldiers were killed in Hawi al-Azeem in the eastern province of Diyala, was claimed by extremists in Iraq this year as the deadliest in a series of terrorist attacks.

The army said in its statement: In a statement issued late Saturday, the army said it had ‘identified the exact location of the terrorist group that perpetrated this criminal act in Hawi al-Azeem’

Based on intelligence reports, Iraqi warplanes carried out airstrikes on IS positions in the Udim area in the northern part of Diyala province, the news agency quoted Iraqi army colonel Ehab Mohamed

Mohamed of the Iraqi army said a local IS leader was among the nine terrorists killed in the airstrike. He said that the army had a watch on terrorist activities for a long time.

The provinces, which were previously controlled by Islamic State militants, monitored their intensified movements over the past months.

Despite this, repeated military campaigns were carried out to find them.

Iraq’s military forces defeated Islamic State (IS) in 2017. Since then the security situation in Iraq has been improving.

However, IS fighters have since spread to urban centers, deserts, and rugged areas. They are continuously carrying out guerilla attacks against security forces and civilians.
