Kerala High Court stays the order of Lakshadweep administration,

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday stayed the Lakshadweep administration’s order to shut down dairy farms and change the diet of children by eliminating meat, including chicken, from the mid-day meal.

The stay order was given by the Division Bench of Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Shaji P while hearing a PIL.

The court said that these orders should not be implemented till the counter affidavit is filed by the administration.

Petitioner Ajmal Ahmed has alleged that this has been done with malicious intent to change the eating habits of the residents of the island.

According to the petitioner, this order is a prelude to the implementation of Animal Protection, 2021, which deals with banning the slaughter of cattle and consumption of beef and beef products.
