Ordnance Factory Board Denies Indian Army Claims

Ordnance factory board denies army claims, says accidents due to poor maintenance of weapons. The Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) has denied the Indian Army’s claim that soldiers are injured and are also dying due to faulty weapons.

The Ordnance Factory Board denies army claims, has stated that poor maintenance of cannons could also be the cause of accidents. Not only this, the faulty practice of firing and invalid changes in weapon design can also be the reason for this.

In fact, sources in the Indian Army said that between 2014 and 2020, 403 accidents were caused by weapons of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB). These accidents also resulted in a loss of Rs 960 crore to the government exchequer.

Sources said that this amount was so high that a hundred artillery guns could be purchased from it. 27 workers lost their lives in these accidents.

Questioning the Indian Army’s claim after the said reports came, the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) said that if the same logic applied to the defective Krasnopol ammunition imported from the Rs.522.44 crore during the Kargil war.

If done, 55 more artillery guns could be purchased from it. The Ordnance factory board OFB said that investigations into the flaws in accidents between January 2015 and December 2019 have been completed.

The Ordnance factory board OFB says that according to investigations, only 19 percent of the accidents were caused by faults. The flaws were investigated by a committee headed by the Authority Holding Sealed Perticullers (AHSP), which is also a custodian of construction-related documents.

The committee consists of representatives from all parties including the user.

The Ordnance factory board OFB says that only two percent of the accidents in which the investigation into the flaws has been completed and in which one has died is connected to the Ordnance factory board OFB.
