Parthiv Patel announces Retirement: Indian team wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket.
The 35-year-old cricketer has decided to quit all forms of cricket. However, he can now be involved with commentary, coaching, and other things.
Apart from this, if Patel has to play in a foreign league, then he will be eligible to play, because the Board of Control for Cricket in India, ie BCCI, does not allow players to play in any foreign league which is in any way part of Indian cricket.
Left-handed batsman Parthiv Patel played international cricket at the age of 17. He was part of the Indian team for some time, but then when Mahendra Singh Dhoni came into international cricket, he was cut from the team.
Parthiv Patel was later seen as the wicket-keeper batsman’s second option. However, he got some opportunities in between, but he could not cash in.
Even in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, he did not get a chance to play a single match, while last year he was the vice-captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore i.e. RCB and he played all the matches. This time he was part of the bench strength of RCB.
Parthiv, who made his Test debut against England in 2002 at the age of 17, has played a total of 25 Test matches for the country.
At the same time, apart from 38 ODIs, he has also played two T20 Internationals for the Indian team. Not a single century in international cricket is named for Parthiv Patel.
However, he has scored 6 half-centuries in Test cricket and 4 half-centuries in ODI cricket. He has scored 2848 runs in 139 IPL matches with 13 half-centuries.
