Petition to Supreme Court regarding violence during tractor rally, demand for inquiry from SIT or Judicial inquiry commission.
A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to investigate the violence of farmers protesting against the new agricultural laws during a tractor rally in the capital Delhi on 26 January.
Two lawyers have filed this petition. The petition has sought the constitution of a judicial inquiry commission headed by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or retired judge of the Supreme Court to investigate the violence, damage to public property, and violation of peaceful protests at the Kisan Tractor Rally.
The petition has been filed by lawyers Vishal Thackeray and Abhay Singh Yadav through their counsel Pradeep Kumar Yadav and Supreme Court Advocate on Record (AOR) Sanjeev Malhotra.
The petitioners demanded the court to present its report in a timely manner and then take appropriate action. The petition said that real farmers should not be blamed.
Because mischievous goons worsened the law and order situation at the tractor rally. He allegedly took advantage of the tractor parade and caused law and order problems in Delhi NCR.
The petition said that these people attacked police personnel while behaving inhumanly. These illegal acts were criticized all over the country.
Therefore, the petitioners demanded an independent investigation into the case, and whoever is responsible for the illegal and violent acts should be punished according to the law.
There were also some goons among the farmers, who needed to be identified. It is necessary to investigate this.
Permission was given by the central government and police department for peaceful protest and a tractor rally on Republic Day, which was misused by miscreants.
The petition stated that in the interest of justice, police officers should be directed to locate these people based on CCTV footage and mobile videos.
The authorities concerned should be instructed to act in accordance with the law and arrest the chaotic elements. These mischievous elements must be compensated for the damage to public property.
Injured policemen should be rewarded as they discharge their duties in compliance with the law.
