Police Naka party attacked in Kulgam’s Manzgam, two jawans injured: Terrorist Attack in Kashmir.
Two policemen were seriously injured in an attack by terrorists in South Kashmir’s Manzgam, Kulgam on Saturday.
The injured policemen have been identified as Zahoor Ahmed and Irfan Ahmed.
Earlier, two terrorists managed to escape by breaking the cordon of security forces during an encounter in the Methan area of the summer capital.
According to the information received here, the Kulgam police had come to know from their system that a group of terrorists was roaming in Manzgam.
At the same time, the police put up nakas at various places to nab these terrorists and the soldiers posted at each Naka started checking the suspicious elements and vehicles passing through there.
During this, the policemen posted at a checkpoint were suddenly attacked from some distance. The terrorists opened fire on the Naka party.
By the time the jawans posted at the block took their positions, firing retaliatory fire, two policemen were injured.
Other policemen retaliated by removing their injured comrades from there, but the terrorists managed to escape.
Meanwhile, on receiving the news of the terrorist attack, additional contingents of police and paramilitary forces from nearby camps reached the spot.
The security forces have cordoned off the entire area, arranging for taking the injured policemen to the hospital, and launched a search operation to nab the terrorists.
Earlier, at around one o’clock on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the Srinagar Police received information about the hiding of two terrorists in the Methan area of Natipora.

Meanwhile, on seeing the policemen coming towards their hideout, the terrorists opened fire on them.
The policemen also took their positions and retaliated. The firing continued intermittently for about half an hour from both sides. After this, the firing from the terrorists stopped completely.
After this, when the policemen searched the house which became the terrorist hideout, they did not find anything there.
The terrorists had managed to escape by breaking the siege during the encounter.
Relevant sources said that the terrorists hiding in Methan were accomplices of Lashkar terrorist Aaqib Rashid, who was killed in Natipora last night.
