Record-Breaking Devotee Visits to Adi Kailash: This year marks a historic rise in the number of devotees visiting Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, with a record-breaking 31,000 pilgrims. PM Modi’s visit last year sparked widespread interest, tripling tourism in 2024. Increased footfall is boosting local businesses and employment, with tourism projected to reach new heights in the coming years.

The number of devotees visiting ‘Adi Kailash’ and ‘Om Parvat’ has increased, this year the number of devotees visiting from India has broken records. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, there has been a record increase in the number of tourists visiting here. This year the number of devotees and tourists visiting these two places has increased three times compared to last year.

Last year on October 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to visit Adi Kailash and Om Parvat. He tweeted calling this place wonderful, this tweet was retweeted by many celebrities including Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. After this, Adi Kailash and Om Parvat became famous in the country and around the world.

Record-Breaking Devotee Visits to Adi Kailash: This year this figure reached 31 thousand

Last year the number of devotees visiting Adi Kailash and Om Parvat was around 10 thousand, this year this figure reached 31 thousand. The yatra started in April and in July it was stopped due to monsoon season. The yatra started operating again on 1st October. The yatra was operated for about 140 days from April to 15th November. This year the number of tourists visiting Darma Valley was also above eight thousand.

Private tour operators including the corporation are conducting the Yatra

Pithoragarh: Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Darshan Yatra are being conducted by Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam and private tour operators. Many passengers are also going on the yatra on their own. Due to the yatra, homestay operators and taxi operators in the high Himalayas made good profits this year.

Now small dhabas have also started opening at various places on the route. This is increasing employment opportunities. Next year the number of passengers is expected to reach more than 50 thousand. Given the number of passengers, there is a great need to increase the accommodation arrangements in the next year.

Record-Breaking Devotee Visits to Adi Kailash: 34 travellers visited the main Kailash by heli journey

Pithoragarh: Due to the closure of the Kailash Yatra from India to Tibet, this year travellers were shown Kailash from Old Lipu in India. For this, the Heli journey was conducted by Uttarakhand Tourism Department and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam.

Eight travel groups from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan were taken to Gunji from Naini Saini Airport by helicopter. From where they were taken to Old Lipu and shown Kailash. On this three-day journey, travellers stayed overnight in Pithoragarh for one day and in Gunji for two days. District Tourism Officer Kirti Arya said that one traveller’s travel expenses were fixed at Rs. 80 thousand.

Tourism will now shift from the high Himalayas to the middle Himalayas

Pithoragarh: Because of the possibility of snowfall in the high Himalayas during winter, online booking of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Darshan Yatra will be closed from November 15. With this, tourism will shift to Munsiyari situated at an altitude of seven thousand feet and Berinag situated at a slightly lower altitude.

Bengali tourists have started arriving in both these places. Berinag and Munsiyari will be packed with tourists till 31 December. Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam and tourism businessmen of Munsiyari have intensified their preparations for the tourist season. Devendra Deva of the Hotel Association said that Bengali tourists have started arriving in Munsiyari. Bookings have also started for 31 December. Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam has planned snow skiing in Khaliatop and Betulidhar.
