In Amarnath Yatra, there will be RFID tagging of the vehicles of the devotees, which will help in continuous monitoring of the vehicle

Amidst the ongoing administrative preparations for the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath-2022.

Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar, while visiting South Kashmir, also took stock of the security arrangements in Navyug Tunnel on Saturday.

He was accompanied by IG CRPF Charu Sinha, DIG CRPF, DIG South Kashmir Range, SSP Anantanag, and SSP Kulgam.

In the meeting, the concerned officers of the Army, Police, and CRPF, gave a detailed presentation of the security arrangements to be made during the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath-2022.

All the points which can be exploited by mischievous elements were mentioned.

He also suggested setting up temporary security checkpoints at some identified places along the National Highway, Navyug Tunnel to ensure the safety of pilgrims along the Yatra route.

He also made his stand on the security of the camps to be set up for the pilgrims, use of state-of-the-art security equipment, and fixing the timings of the movement of vehicles of the pilgrims.

A representative of a private company also made a presentation on RFID tagging and its use of vehicles of pilgrims used in the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath.

The concerned vehicle can be continuously monitored through RFID.

The IGP asked all the officers present in the meeting to maintain full coordination with the concerned civil administration as well so that there is no problem during the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath in 2022.

He also asked for the deployment of SDRF squads on both sides of the Navyug tunnel along with keeping a contingency plan ready to deal with any emergency.

He asked to take all possible measures to make the Yatra completely safe while thwarting the designs of anti-national elements by using all state-of-the-art equipment including CCTV, Drones.
