Russia May Be Out Of FIFA World Cup

Russia may be out of FIFA World Cup, national and club teams are suspended from all tournaments until further orders.

Football’s world body FIFA and European football body UEFA have suspended Russian national and club teams until further orders over Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

Both the organizations issued a joint statement on Monday and were informed about this. With this move, Russia could be ruled out of this year’s World Cup and Women’s Euro 2020 tournament.

“Fifa and UEFA have jointly decided that Russia’s national and club teams will be suspended from participating in FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice,” UEFA said in a statement.

These decisions were adopted by the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA.

Earlier, FIFA had banned international matches to be held in Russia.

Along with this, he had also decided not to play the national flag and national anthem of Russia in any match of the Russian team to be held abroad.

FIFA stated that the national team would play under the name of the Russian Football Federation (RUF) instead of Russia and that any matches would be held at a neutral venue.

At the same time, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has recommended that the International Sports Federation ban Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating in the competitions.

The IOC said that it has taken this decision to protect the integrity of global sporting events and the safety of all participants.

The IOC also urged the federations to ensure that no athletes or sports officials from Russia or Belarus are allowed to participate in the name of their country.

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) disagreed with the IOC, saying the decision was contrary to the IOC’s regulatory documents and the Olympic Charter.
