SC to take cognizance of the killing of Hindu-Sikhs in Kashmir, petition for protection of minorities.
A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court requesting Chief Justice NV Ramana to take cognizance of the murder cases of Hindus and Sikhs in Kashmir.
It has been said in the petition that in the last five days, seven people belonging to minority communities have been killed in Kashmir. The petition is filed by advocate Vineet Jindal.
He referred to the murders of businessman Makhan Lal Bindru, principal Supinder Kaur and teacher Deepak Chand.
He said these incidents have created fear among the minorities living in the Kashmir Valley.
SC to take cognizance of the killing: These killings are reminiscent of the mass murder of 36 Sikh civilians in Anantnag in 2000.
It has been said in the petition that after the latest incidents of murder, many government employees have left the Valley in fear of their lives.
These employees got jobs under the Prime Minister’s Special Employment Program. Apart from these, a large number of unorganized sector workers are also leaving the Kashmir Valley.
The petition has sought the Supreme Court to give comprehensive directions to the Central Government to make adequate arrangements for the security of the minorities in the Kashmir Valley.
At the same time, the Chief Justice has been requested to set up such a unit of Special Representatives to review the security of Hindus and Sikhs in Kashmir from time to time.
Also, advise the administration to improve the system as per the requirement.
The petition also urged the apex court to issue a direction to the National Security Agency to probe the recent killings of Hindu and Sikh minorities.
Along with this, a request has been made to give one crore rupee as compensation to the families of the victims and a government job to one member of the family.
