A search allegedly led to the recovery of two hand grenades and five posters bearing links or markings associated with Hizbul Mujahideen. The motorcycle was also seized.

The three arrested men were identified as Junaid Ahmad Dar, a resident of Mathulhama in Kulgam; Amir Yousuf, from Chuddar in Kulgam; and Junaid Muzaffar, also from Mathulhama. Officials said further investigation was underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the recovery and whether the suspects had links with a wider militant network.

Why the Hizbul Posters Matter

Two More Terror Associates Arrested in Pulwama

In another operation in South Kashmir, security forces arrested two suspected terrorist associates in Pulwama district.

Pulwama Police, along with 44 Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF’s 183 Battalion, conducted a cordon-and-search operation in the Yarwan forest area of CB Nath, Rajpora, following security inputs.

Officials said two individuals were spotted emerging from the forest and were subsequently apprehended. Police identified them as Latif Ahmad Deedad and Aejaz Ahmad Bajad.

A search allegedly resulted in the recovery of one pistol, 12 pistol rounds and one hand grenade.

Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and are investigating the source of the weapons and possible additional linkages.

Taken together, the Shopian and Pulwama operations resulted in five arrests or apprehensions and the recovery of grenades, a pistol, ammunition and alleged militant propaganda material.

The latest operations underline a broader challenge confronting counter-terrorism agencies in Jammu and Kashmir: militant activity does not depend solely on armed terrorists.

Separately, agencies investigating the threats against Kashmiri Pandits face the task of determining who created and circulated the ULC poster and how those responsible allegedly obtained detailed information about employees.

Until those investigations are completed, conclusions about links between the different incidents would be premature.
