Sunil Gavaskar- Young Indian Players Are Making A Mark In IPL

Sunil Gavaskar-Young Indian players are making a mark in IPL 2020. This season of IPL once again showed that when it comes to junior cricket, no one can do better than BCCI.

In recent years, the tournaments and ‘A’ team tours organized by the BCCI in different age groups are better than any other cricket board and this has been reflected in the youth performance in IPL.

Looking at the match of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings, when young Priyam Garg came to the crease, he was accompanied by New Zealand captain and one of the best players of this game, Kane Williamson.

Williamson made the wrong run call and was run out on it. He asked Priyam for the run which was not there and he had to lose his wicket. When a batsman like Williamson speaks for a run and returns to the pavilion after being run out, he feels that it has happened due to his partner’s mistake.

This is exactly what could be seen in Williamson’s expression as he returned to the pavilion looking at Garg. As Garg tried to look towards him, he moved towards the dugout.

Any young player would have felt the pressure of that run out of the team’s leading batsman, despite knowing that it was not really his fault.

Luckily for Garg, his good friend Abhishek Sharma came to the crease with whom he has played many matches in junior cricket. He then started playing shots with them which reduced the pressure on him.

The two youngsters were playing with independence in a great way. Hyderabad needed extra runs that the team got from their partnership and this proved useful in the team’s victory. These two youngsters showed that they are changing the match with this partnership.

It is not just the case of these two, but also of other youngsters in every franchise who are shining through their performance and showing that investing in them is the right decision.

Sunil Gavaskar said for Kolkata Knight Riders, Kamlesh Nagerkoti, Shubman Gill and Shivam Mavi are playing, while Royal Challengers Bangalore has Devdutt Padyakkal and Navdeep Saini. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Prithvi Shaw are with Delhi Capitals. Ishaan Kishan is doing well for Mumbai Indians.

The Rajasthan Royals team also includes Sanju Samson, Rahul Tewatia. These youngsters are becoming match-winners for the franchises in IPL this year pointed by Sunil and all of them have come through the BCCI age-group tournaments.

Some of these youngsters had to be admitted to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to recover from serious injuries and the BCCI spent a lot of money to get them back on the field.

In the end, NCA is getting the praise they deserve. In these years, this game has also taken root in many states of India. Great coverage and commentary in local languages in particular should be thanked. Where cricket was not a number-one game, now the game is also coming back with talented youngsters.

One thing that is clear under the guidance of Rahul Dravid is that the player is seen only in the way of playing cricket. It doesn’t matter where he comes from, what language he speaks.

If he is a good cricketer then he will be promoted. Now no player needs to speak English to lead the team, because Indian cricket only matters to him and nothing else.
