Vaccination figure in the country crosses 68.37 crores, instructions to the states – pay attention to second dose to senior citizens.

The Center has asked 11 northeastern and hilly states and union territories to focus on ensuring a second dose of anti-coronavirus vaccine to people above 60 years of age as vaccination coverage is not satisfactory in some of these states.

According to the report of the news agency, the government says that senior citizens are more at risk of the corona, so emphasis should be laid on their complete vaccination.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the above in a review meeting with representatives of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Northeast states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

He said that due to the high risk of corona to senior citizens, it is necessary to emphasize their complete immunization.

Vaccination is not satisfactory in these states.

In Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Meghalaya, the vaccination campaign of both doses among the population above 60 years is not satisfactory, according to the health ministry.

In the meeting, the states and union territories were also asked to increase the coverage of the first dose among the population above 18 years.

Discussion on vaccination of transgender and prisoners.

According to the ministry, the balance stock of 0.5 ml syringes, details of vaccination coverage among special groups like transgender persons, persons with disabilities, prisoners, and women, especially pregnant and lactating women were also discussed.

68.37 crore doses have been administered in the country so far.

According to the news agency Pretr, more than 68.37 crore vaccines have been administered in the country so far, including 52.38 crores first and 15.99 crore second doses.

The ministry said that out of these, 62.25 lakh doses were administered till 7 pm on Saturday.

According to the ministry, 26.99 crore people in the age group of 18-44 have been given the first dose of the vaccine, and 3.35 crore people have been given the second dose.
