Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said that around midnight there was a huge crowd of devotees for darshan at the Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan.

At that time the situation worsened due to each other’s push and suddenly there was a stampede.

After this, people there tried to move forward, trampling each other to save themselves. Suddenly, the whole scene changed due to the screams of the injured there.

Where till some time ago the crowd of devotees was waiting for their turn to have the darshan of Maa Vaishno, now there were people crying.

Some were searching for their loved ones and were crying. There were some who were pushing the injured aside. People’s belongings were spread all around.

Slippers and blood were visible everywhere. In this accident, 12 people had died while 13 others were injured.

This accident, which happened on the very first day of the new year, eclipsed the happiness of those whose own mother had gone to Vaishno’s darshan and became a victim of this accident.

Along with this, this tragic incident has also caused deep sorrow to all the countrymen.

President Ram Nath Kovind, including PM Narendra Modi, has also expressed grief over the incident. An inquiry has also been ordered into this incident.
