Both restaurants made different claims
Moti Mahal has claimed that butter chicken was invented in its restaurants. Founder Kundanlal Gujral invented butter chicken. When he first made the butter chicken recipe, he lived in Peshawar at that time.
At the same time, the Daryaganj Restaurants chain has argued that butter chicken was invented by its founder Kundanlal Jaggi. Daryaganj Restaurants has argued that Kundanlal Gujral and Kundanlal Jaggi were both friends and partners.

What did Pakistan claim?
At the same time, an article published on the website of Pakistani TV channel Geo News claimed that butter chicken was not invented in Moti Mahal or Daryaganj but in Peshawar.
