Will Amritpal ‘Play’ In The Garb Of The Festival? Alert Of Danger, Punjab Police Holidays Canceled

Will Amritpal ‘play’ in the garb of the festival? Alert of danger, Punjab police holidays are canceled till Baisakhi.

Punjab Police officers and jawans will not get the Baisakhi holiday this year as the holidays have been canceled till April 14 in view of the absconding of radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh.

Sources told DNN that there are apprehensions that law and order problems could be created in the ‘guise of the festival’.

Amritpal’s demand for ‘Sarbat Khalsa’, a gathering of Sikhs from the Jathedar of Akal Takht, has not been rejected yet.

Police suspect that fugitive Amritpal may give a separatist color to the gathering of Sikhs related to Baisakhi in various gurdwaras across the state.

The hardline preacher had asked the heads of the apex Sikh body, Akal Takht, to organize a ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ in Punjab’s Bathinda on April 14, the occasion of Baisakhi.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, in his message to the officers, said that all the leaves of all gazetted and non-gazetted officers have been canceled till Baisakhi, including the previously sanctioned holidays.

Heads of police offices across the state have also been asked not to sanction any new leave till April 14. Amritpal is absconding since March 18 and is evading arrest.

Fresh details of Amritpal’s Georgia tour and his alleged conspiracy with the ISI have now come to the fore. If sources are to be believed, he had gone to Georgia just before coming to India last year.

There he had passed through beauty surgical treatment to appear like Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, however, has stated that no `Sarbat Khalsa’ can be called.

However, a 3-day annual congregation can be held at Takht Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo to rejoice in the festival.

A media document quoted an official, who did now no longer desire to be named, as saying, “There is a marked distinction between the yearly congregation and the Sarbat Khalsa.”

“This is a meeting to mark Baisakhi.’ The closing line of the clicking launch issued on Thursday stated, ‘A three-day collecting can be prepared from April 12 to 14.”

On this occasion, the network has to sign up their presence in most numbers.
