Air Force Chief said – due to the challenges being faced by China, self-reliance is the strategic need of the present time.

Describing self-reliance as the strategic need of the hour, Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria said on Wednesday that no other weapon system has as much potential in the aerospace sector.

Emphasizing the need to make the aerospace sector functional, he said that self-reliance will be our biggest strength.

Addressing a seminar in the national capital, the Chief of Air Staff said that the aerospace sector is time-consuming and requires a huge budget.

But, after being self-reliant, returns are also highest in this sector.

Bhadauria also talked about the need to develop similar capabilities to further strengthen the Air Force in view of the challenges being faced by China.

“Looking at the northern neighbors, we have to keep top-notch technology with us, which will also have to be developed in our own country for security reasons,” he said.

According to Petr, during the seminar of the Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM) and Center for Air Power Studies (CAPS), Bhadauria said that the Indian Air Force is looking at procuring about 350 indigenously developed aircraft in the next two decades.

These include 83 light combat aircraft Tejas. Emphasizing making India self-reliant in the defense sector, Bhadauria said that the IAF is committed to supporting domestic industries.

He said that the creation of Tejas has instilled confidence that we can flag success in any project.

Referring to the Advance Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project, he said preparations have gone ahead.

This will greatly increase the strength of the Air Force.

It is noteworthy that in February, the government has signed an agreement of Rs 48,000 crore with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the purchase of 83 Tejas aircraft.
