ASI Babu Ram Got Ashok Chakra Posthumously
ASI Babu Ram got Ashok Chakra posthumously, terrorists used to tremble after hearing his name.
On the occasion of 73rd Republic Day, President Ram Nath Kovind posthumously awarded Ashok Chakra to Jammu and Kashmir Police’s ASI Babu Ram, who was martyred while fighting terrorists.
The President presented the award to Reena Rani, wife of martyr ASI Babu Ram, and his son Manik.
Let us inform you that, ASI Babu Ram had killed three terrorists during an operation in Srinagar on August 29, 2020. ASI Babu Ram was martyred in this terrorist attack.
According to the information, ASI Babu Ram posted in Jammu and Kashmir was part of 14 encounters during his service in the Anti-Terrorist Group, in which 28 terrorists were killed.
On 29 August 2020, he attained martyrdom while fighting terrorists during one such encounter.
At Pantha Chowk, the entrance of Srinagar, ASI Babu Ram along with his team was keeping an eye on the vehicles passing through the highway.
Meanwhile, three terrorists on a scooty came and suddenly attacked a CRPF jawan standing in the crowd on the roadside.
The terrorists also started snatching weapons from that jawan. However, as the area was congested, the team of ASI Babu Ram could not target the terrorists.
During this, the terrorists hid in a house located nearby while firing. After this ASI Babu Ram along with his companions chased the terrorists.
They surrounded that house and took out the people present there, after which Baburam along with his team started retaliatory action against the terrorists.
During this, Babu Ram encountered Lashkar commander Shakib Bashir, he killed the terrorist.
During this encounter, ASI Babu Ram was also shot, after which he was taken to the hospital, where he breathed his last.
In this encounter, all three terrorists Saqib Bashir and his two accomplices Umar Tariq and Zubair Ahmed Sheikh were killed.
The three terrorists were residents of Drangbal in Pampore. Saqib was active in terrorist activity since 2018.
Let us tell you that, ASI Babu Ram was a resident of Mendhar in Poonch district, he wanted to join the police or army since childhood.
In 1999, Babu Ram was recruited in the Jammu and Kashmir Police as a constable. Seeing his ability, he was included in the Anti-Terrorist Squad within a few years.
On the occasion of Republic Day, the President has awarded him the Ashok Chakra posthumously for his gallantry.
