Four People Including A Police Inspector Injured By A Grenade

Four people including a police inspector and two women were injured by a grenade at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar, the search operation continues.

On Tuesday, a day before Republic Day, terrorists flouting the tight security arrangements made in the summer capital carried out a grenade attack on Hari Singh High Street.

Four people including a police inspector and two women were injured in the attack. Four vehicles, including a police vehicle, were also damaged in the attack.

Immediately after the attack, senior officials of the concerned security agencies reviewed the situation and strengthened the security circle.

Security agencies have completely sealed both the major Republic Day celebrations. An Anti-drone system has also been installed at the venue and adjoining areas.

The main function of Republic Day in Jammu and Kashmir will be held at Maulana Azad Stadium in the autumn capital Jammu, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will take the salute of the parade.

Frustrated by the killing of all their major commanders, terrorists are looking for an opportunity to carry out some subversive activity to worsen the situation during Republic Day.

Intelligence agencies have already issued an alert to this effect. The police, in coordination with all the security agencies, have tightened the security arrangements in the entire state.

This afternoon at around 3.15 pm, terrorists attacked a police vehicle passing through Hari Singh High Street adjoining Lal Chowk with a grenade.

The grenade hit the police vehicle hit the road and exploded with a loud bang. There was a scream as soon as the explosion happened.

People ran to safer places to save their lives. The security forces present there immediately surrounded the entire area. Within no time the road was completely empty and four people were injured there.

They have been identified as Police Inspector Tanveer Ahmed posted in the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Asmat Jaan, a resident of Charar-e-Sharif, and Tanveera and her husband Mohammad Shafi Butt, of Chhatabal Srinagar.

All the injured have been admitted to SMHS Hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be stable.

The windows of three shops were shattered in the grenade blast. Apart from this, four vehicles including a police vehicle were also damaged.

Police and CRPF launched a search operation immediately after the attack, cordoning off the entire area, but no trace of the terrorists was found.

After the attack in Srinagar, the police and officers of other related security agencies reviewed the security arrangements and made them better.

Meanwhile, security arrangements have been tightened in the state.

Not only in Jammu and Srinagar, but security forces have also been kept on full alert in all other major cities and towns of the state.

Special nakas have been erected on highways, roads coming from border areas.

Patrols have been increased along the International Border and LoC. QRTs and QATs have been deployed at all the identified locations to deal with any emergency.

All hotels, houseboats are being searched. The security of all government and security establishments has also been beefed up.

Security forces deployed in all minority settlements have been instructed to take special precautions.

Not only in Jammu and Srinagar but also in the district headquarters, the main celebrations of Republic Day have been completely sealed by the security forces.

These will be opened to the general public on Wednesday morning. CCTV cameras have also been made fully active.

Apart from this, police personnel and officers in plain uniform have been deployed in different areas. He said that to make Republic Day completely safe, drones are also being flown in different areas in Assam.

Apart from this, an anti-drone system will also be installed at major function places in both the capital cities.
