Uttar Pradesh ATS Uncovers ‘Mujahideen Army’ Plot: Qasim Ali Arrested in Terrorism Conspiracy
Uttar Pradesh ATS arrests Qasim Ali and three others for plotting to establish a ‘Mujahideen Army’ aiming to replace India’s constitutional framework with Sharia law.
In a significant operation, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended four individuals, including Qasim Ali from Sarai Kadim village in Rampur, for allegedly conspiring to establish a radical group named the ‘Mujahideen Army.’ The group’s objective was to dismantle India’s democratic framework and replace it with Sharia-based governance through violent jihad.
The arrested individuals—
Akmal Raza from Sultanpur, Safeel Salmani alias Ali Razvi from Robertsganj, Mohd. Tausif from Kanpur and Qasim Ali were reportedly influenced by Pakistan-based jihadi propaganda. According to ATS officials, the group utilized encrypted messaging platforms to coordinate clandestine meetings, shared extremist religious content to recruit youth, and plotted activities including raising funds for weapons and targeting religious leaders to incite communal tension.
The ATS’s investigation revealed that the group met in the first week of September in Amethi to expand their radical agenda. During interrogation, the accused admitted to planning the creation of the ‘Mujahideen Army’ aimed at waging violent jihad. Items recovered from them include mobile phones, Aadhaar and PAN cards, debit/credit cards, and a PhonePe scanner.
The arrest has sent shockwaves through the region, with the village of Sarai Kadim remaining under intense surveillance. Intelligence personnel in plainclothes are frequently visiting and investigating Qasim’s close associates. The incident has become a topic of discussion in the village and the region, with people avoiding Qasim’s family following the revelation of his involvement in anti-national activities.
