Three Terrorists, Including Senior Lashkar Commander Killed
Three terrorists, including senior Lashkar commander killed, police ASI martyred: Srinagar Panthachowk encounter. The three terrorists who were attacked by CRPF personnel on Saturday night in Panthachowk, the summer capital of the Jammu and Kashmir, were killed in an encounter. Babu Ram, a policeman serving as Assistant Sub Inspector in the police department, was seriously injured in the encounter. Later, he was martyred without suffering a wound.
CRPF personnel had blocked the road at Panthachowk at around 9.15 pm on Saturday night and suspected vehicles were passing through. During this time, three youths came on a motorcycle and started firing on the soldiers stationed on the Nakas. Soon after this firing, the soldiers took the front. And the counter started firing but somehow the three terrorists riding in the bike escaped from there.
The troops of the CRPF’s QAT squad and Jammu Kashmir Police Special Operations Team SOG at the same time laid siege to the nearby locality chasing the invading militants. They started searching for suspicious houses. At eleven o’clock in the night, at a place in Dhobi locality, the terrorists, seeing themselves trapped, tried to escape by firing on the soldiers again and breaking the siege, but they failed.
The soldiers fired back and entangled them in the encounter. During this period, an assistant sub-inspector of police, Babu Ram, got injured due to gale. He has been admitted to the military hospital at Badami Bagh for treatment where he died late last night without suffering any injuries.
The encounter continued till early in the morning on Sunday and finally, the three terrorists were killed by the security forces. Director-General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh said that the three militants killed belonged to the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). One senior commander was also among the three terrorists killed.
