Kazakhstan’s Defense Minister Nurlan Yermakbayev said on Friday that four soldiers were killed in a series of explosions in the southern Kazakhstan city of Taraz.
90 people were injured in a series of blasts in Kazakhstan’s southern province of Zambil.
Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Shpekbayev told that after the sudden fire, the center full of explosives kept there also caught fire.
Defense Minister Nurlan Yermakbayev told a briefing that it was not clear what caused the fire Thursday in Zambil province, where the explosives were kept.
He said the soldiers died while trying to put out the fire, which was followed by ten explosions one after the other.
He said a similar incident of stored explosives in 2019 also took place at a base in Aryas city, in which four people were killed.
The surrounding areas have been evacuated after the blast outside the military base. Also, people were shifted to other places
The Defense Ministry of Kazakhstan confirmed the blast. According to Kazakhstan’s defense ministry, the explosion took place near an army warehouse near the Jambyl region.
On behalf of the Ministry of Defense, an inquiry committee has been constituted under the leadership of Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Shpekbaev. This committee is present on the spot for investigation.
