Bookie Sonu Jalan accused Parambir Singh, demanded 10 crores to save him from arrest .
Cricket bookie Sonu Jalan, in a statement filed before the CID on Tuesday, alleged that former Mumbai police commissioner Parambir Singh had told him that If you want to save yourself from arrest, then give 10 crore rupees to former police inspector Pradeep Sharma.
However, no response has been received from either Parambir Singh and Pradeep Sharma in this matter.
After recording the statement of Sonu Jalan, the CID is engaged in investigating the recovery charges leveled against Parambir Singh, Sharma and Inspector Rajkumar and others.
In a statement lodged in the CID, Jalan has stated that he was presented to the then Thane Police Commissioner Parambir Singh after being arrested by the Thane Police’s ‘Anti-Extortion Cell’ in a betting case in May 2018.
Jalan claims that Parambir Singh demanded information about cricket bookies operating in India and threatened to arrest him along with his family members in a big case.
Jalan alleges that he was asked to give Rs 10 crore to Pradeep Sharma, a police inspector, to avoid arrest.
Maharashtra: Hearing in former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh case adjourned till 8 June .
The Bombay High Court has adjourned till June 8 the petition of the Maharashtra government challenging two paragraphs of the CBI FIR in the alleged corruption case against Anil Deshmukh.
The court has also asked the CBI not to take action (seeking documents from the state government) till the next hearing in the High Court.
Significantly, on May 6, the Bombay High Court had adjourned the plea of former state minister of state Anil Deshmukh challenging the CBI’s FIR in the corruption case.
Along with this, the Bombay High Court had also refused to give interim protection to Deshmukh from any action by the CBI.
The High Court directed Anil Deshmukh that if necessary his case can be transferred to the Vacation Bench of the High Court based on the urgency.
