He also said that the Indian aerospace and defense industry provides an attractive and important opportunity for foreign companies to take their cooperation to new levels in the supply chain.

Pakistan is using drones for smuggling and surveillance along the border, BSF Director General gave information

Pakistan is using drones very effectively for border surveillance and the smuggling of weapons, explosives, and narcotics. BSF Director General Rakesh Asthana said this on Wednesday.

He said that in 2019, drones appeared 167 times on the Western Front (Pakistani border). At the same time, in 2020, drones appeared 77 times on this front.

He said this at a seminar organized by industry body FICCI at the Aero India 2021 exhibition. There have been incidents of dropping weapons, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics through drones.

This was especially seen in the areas of Punjab and Jammu.

Meanwhile, BSF Director General Rakesh Asthana also said that Pakistan is using its drone technology not only for smuggling activities but also for surveillance.

He said that according to intelligence inputs, the Pakistani Army is looking for small UAVs, which can remain in the air for several hours and can be monitored at the border from a distance of 150 km.

The Border Security Force (BSF) chief also said that neighboring countries are using drones from China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Italy. In addition, Pakistan is trying to increase its counter-drone capability.
