Encounter between security forces and terrorists in the forests of Shalagul in district Anantnag: Anantnag Encounter.
The militants have surrounded the militants in the forest of Shalagul in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir. The militants have opened fire on the security forces after appealing for surrender.
At present, firing is going on from both. Security personnel is trying to surround the terrorists so that they do not succeed in escaping.
According to the information received from the police, they were informed by reliable sources about the sighting of some suspected terrorists in the forests of Shalgul.
As soon as the information was received, a team of three RR and CRPF of SOG Army of Jammu and Kashmir Police reached the forests of Shalgul.
Security forces started a search operation to find the terrorists. At the same time, when the terrorists hiding in the forest saw the security forces coming near them, they started firing on them.
Amid retaliation, the security forces asked the militants to surrender but they continued firing. Police say that two to three terrorists are likely to be present.
At present, firing is going on from both sides. Security personnel are responding to the shootout and are trying to surround the militants. Other details are awaited.
Militancy in Kashmir: Terrorist killed six months ago identified by DNA test.
A local TRF militant, who was killed in an encounter with security forces six months ago in Pattan in Tashri Kashmir, has been identified. Based on DNA samples, the terrorist was identified as Imtiaz Mir, who became a terrorist on 12 June 2019.
According to police sources, there was an encounter between security forces and militants on September 4 in Yaripora, Pattan. One Major and two Policemen were injured in this, while three terrorists were killed.
Police had called the families of the three terrorists to identify the bodies. One militant was identified as Hanan Bashir, a resident of Arampora Baramulla, and another identified as Shafqat Ahmed of Rawatpora Delina.
The terrorist was made eight days before Shafqat was killed, while Hanan had been made a terrorist for almost two and a half months.
The third terrorist was being claimed to be Imtiaz Ahmed Mir, the son of Ghulam Nabi of Gulgam Kupwara.
Ghulam Nabi and other members of his family also came to identify the body, but he could not identify it. After this, a DNA sample of Ghulam Nabi was taken.
