India And Sri Lanka Navies Will Conduct Maneuvers Today
India and Sri Lanka navies will conduct maneuvers today amid tension from China, modern weapons will be deployed.
The Indian Navy will deploy a large number of modern light helicopters, Chetak helicopters, and Dornian maritime patrol aircraft along with anti-submarine warships INS Kamorta and INS Kilton in the exercise.
The navies of India and Australia will conduct two-day maneuvers amidst the severe border dispute with China.
The Indian and Sri Lankan navy will conduct a three-day exercise near Trincomalee from Monday and demonstrate their strategic interests and campaign cohesion in the region.
Officials said that in the eighth edition of the annual Slynx exercise, a number of complex exercises will be conducted to further improve the high level of interoperability between the two navies.
According to officials, the Indian Navy will deploy a large number of modern light helicopters, Chetak helicopters, and Dornian maritime patrol aircraft along with INS Kamorta and INS Kilton, anti-submarine warships in practice.
The Sri Lankan Navy will be represented by the patrol ship Sayura and the training vessel Gajabahu. Last year this exercise took place in September 2019.
Example of deep partnership
A spokesman for the Indian Navy said, “The Slinex exercise series exemplifies the deep partnership between India and Sri Lanka that has strengthened mutual cooperation in the maritime sector.”
Relationships with Sri Lanka will be strong
Let us tell you that during the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the summit meeting of Prime Ministers of India and Sri Lanka on October 18.
The issue of maritime cooperation between India and Sri Lanka was discussed intensively.
Both said that they are satisfied with the current level of strategic and security cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi said that India and Sri Lanka will continue to help in the strategic and security field. Significantly, in recent years, there has been a deep concern in India for China to strengthen relations with Sri Lanka in the defense sector with Sri Lanka.
But the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka has assured India that they will not take any action against India’s security interests.
Maneuvers with the US and Japan too
Earlier at the beginning of the month of September, the Indian and Russian Navy had practiced in the Bay of Bengal. At the same time, India also practiced with America and Japan.
A joint exercise was conducted near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with the US Navy’s Nimitz equipped with the US Navy’s nuclear capability. Nimitz is considered the world’s largest warship.
