Jagannath Rath Yatra 2022: Jagannath Rath Yatra starts today. The famous Jagannath Rath Yatra is starting today, July 01, Friday.
It will start from 01st July and will run till 12th July. According to the Hindu calendar, every year Jagannath Rath Yatra begins on Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya.
This journey is of a total of 9 days, in which Lord Jagannath stays with his brother Balaram and sister Subhadra in Gundicha temple for 7 days.
According to religious beliefs, his aunt’s house is there. Traditionally, on the first day of Rath Yatra, all three chariots are taken to Gundiya Temple. These chariots are pulled by thick ropes.

Chhera Pahara: 01 July, 02:30 PM to 03:30 PM. Jagannath Temple Puri’s Gajapati Divyasingh Dev at 02:30 pm The chariot of Lord Jagannath
Nandighosh will perform the ritual of ‘Chhera Pahara’ on Balarama’s chariot Taldhvaj and Subhadra ji’s chariot Darpadalan. This ritual will continue till 03:30.
After this, wooden horses will be installed on these huge chariots. At the same time, the charioteer of these chariots will also be established.
Rath Yatra start time.
Jagannath Rath Yatra will start on July 01 at 04:00 PM. Devotees will drag these chariots for 3 km.
In the forefront will be the chariot of Balarama, Taldhwaj, followed by the chariot of Subhadra, Darpadalan, and then Nandighosh, the chariot of Lord Jagannath.
Return of Rath Yatra.
Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra Ji will stay in Gundicha temple till 09 July and the return journey will start on that day itself.
‘Suna Besha’ ritual.
When the three chariots reach the lion gate of the temple of Puri, then on 10th July.
On Devshayani Ekadashi, the ‘Suna Besha’ ritual will be performed for Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra Ji. In this, they are dressed in gold ornaments.
‘Adhar Pana’ ceremony.
The next day, on 11th July, water is offered to Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra Ji.
Adhar Pana Puri is prepared by adding water, butter, cheese, sugar, banana, nutmeg, black pepper, and other spices extracted from the well.
‘Neeladri Bije’.
On the late night of July 12, the Niladri Bije ritual takes place, in which Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra Ji are again seated on the Ratnasinhasan of the sanctum sanctorum of the Shrimandir. Thus ends the Jagannath Rath Yatra.
