The BJP said that there is no need to talk again and again about the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister has again reiterated that the statehood will be restored at the appropriate time.

What did CM Omar Abdullah say?

It is noteworthy that at the inauguration ceremony of the Sonamarg-Z-Morh tunnel, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized that those who support violence will never succeed in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that those who indulge in violence will always face defeat in Jammu and Kashmir and we will not allow them to harm democracy in our region.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma, who was present on the stage during the ceremony, praised the Chief Minister’s statement. We welcome Omar Abdullah’s statement on terrorism, he said in a conversation after the ceremony.

Earlier political parties were acting as a shield for separatism but things have changed a lot since the abrogation of Article 370. Terrorism is being eradicated. Although such incidents happen occasionally we firmly believe that they will be eradicated soon.

Statehood will be restored at the right time: BJP

The BJP leader said that Omar Abdullah raised the issue of statehood during his address. Let me remind you that the Prime Minister had earlier said that it would be restored at the right time. The situation has changed a lot since Jammu and Kashmir became a Union Territory.

He said that since the Home Ministry has taken charge, the law and order situation has improved a lot. Now all political parties including Jammu and Kashmir understand that the Center will never tolerate terrorism or separatism.

The BJP leader also highlighted how the political landscape of the region has changed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Sharma referred to the case of MP Engineer Rashid, who had earlier rejected the authority of the governor and now seems to be in sync with the progress of the government.

He said that before August 5, 2019, whenever there was a session of the assembly in Jammu and Kashmir, Engineer Rashid and his party used to disrupt the governor’s address, now they are praising the development initiated by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.

This is a new Jammu and Kashmir. We believe this is true. Peace has returned with the completion of projects like ring roads, railways, highways, and tunnels. Stone pelting has ended and terrorism is decreasing. This is the new Kashmir which is a direct result of PM Modi’s leadership.
