Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is to inaugurate the newly constructed Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district today.

Rao’s family members are about to attend the ‘Maha Kumbh Protection’ ceremony of the temple and the entire cabinet will also be present on the occasion.

The temple exhibits a fusion of both Dravidian and Kakatiya styles of architecture.

Let us inform you that it was only after the formation of Telangana that the state government decided to rebuild the Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple under the Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority (YTDA).

It was this authority that planned the temple and started the reconstruction in April 2016.

Anand Sai, the chief architect of the temple said that the ground floor area of ​​the temple has been increased from 11 acres to 17 acres. It is the largest temple in the world which is built entirely of stone.

The specialty of this temple is its appropriate architecture, whose masterpiece has been constructed from 2,50,000 tonnes of black granite.

The main attraction of the temple is ‘Prahlad Charitra’, which depicts under sculpture the story of ‘Bhakta Prahlad’ from birth to the murder of Hiranyakashipu.

‘Prahlad Charitra’ is made of gold. It also has a sculpture of Lord Narasimha breaking a pillar to kill Hiranyakashipu, which is depicted tearing the chest of the demon king.

Devotees can see the idols of Hanumanji, Narasimha Swamy, and sometimes Maharishi who did penance in this temple.

Reconstruction was done with 1,280 crores, seating area for 10000 devotees.

The temple is quite huge as it can accommodate 10,000 devotees at a time. Significantly, the temple has been rebuilt in the last five and a half years at a cost of Rs 1,280 crore.

It employs more than 2,000 sculptors and thousands of workers, the work of which is still in progress.

The seven ‘gopurams’ of the temple are unique as they are made entirely of stone from bottom to top.

The Maharaja Gopuram which is located at the western entrance is 83 feet tall and is made of 13,000 tonnes of black granite, which took two years to build.
