Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has been yearning to score a century for the last several innings.

In the first innings of the last match of the three-match series being played against South Africa, he also missed it by reaching close to it.

Kohli may not have scored a century with the bat but completed a special century on the field.

Kohli took his 100th catch against South Africa in the first innings of the Cape Town Test and made it to head coach Rahul Dravid’s club.

The Indian team has come out to play in the deciding third test match against South Africa in Cape Town.

After winning the toss on the first day, Captain Kohli chose to bat and the entire team was all out for 223 runs. The captain played the highest innings of 79 runs for India.

Kohli, who missed a century by 21 runs, completed the century of the catch while fielding on the second day of the match.

He became the sixth Indian player to do so. He completed this century by taking the catch of Temba Bavuma off Shami.

Most catches in Test cricket are recorded in the name of current coach Dravid. He has taken a total of 209 catches and this is also a World Cup record.

VVS Laxman (135) is the second Indian to take the most catches. Sachin Tendulkar took a total of 115 catches while Sunil Gavaskar took 108 catches.

Former captain Mohammad Azharuddin took 105 catches. Kohli has managed to make his place on this list.

Dravid, who played 164 Tests, tops the list with 210 catches. Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara is in second place with 205 catches.

The name of former South African all-rounder Jacques Kasil, who took 200 catches, comes.

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting took a total of 196 catches in Tests. While his senior Mark Wa took 181 catches.
