KSRTC employees on indefinite strike, commuters face a huge problem: Karnataka. KSRTC has issued temporary permits to private buses for the convenience of passengers.
Bus services were affected in Bengaluru on Wednesday as Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees went on an indefinite strike demanding an amendment in their salaries and this was causing much inconvenience to commuters.
KSRTC Division Controller Nagraj said, “The RTO Joint Commissioner came in this morning and contacted all the private operators. They have made arrangements to transport people.
We look forward to giving good service to the public. ‘ He further said that we have been struggling since morning to transport people using private services. Taxicab will be used later to transport people affected by this strike.
He said that the staff did not arrive on duty. We are trying to convince them but they are not willing to operate the bus service.
Saumya, a student, said, ‘Now we have to take metro services as there is no other mode of transport to take us to the college. We have exams, if we do not give exams then we will fail.
The college administration has not postponed the examinations. They told us that it is our problem how to reach the college, they asked us to use the metro or autorickshaw. ‘
He further said that after the long closure of the college, our studies and classes are coming back on track. It is very unfortunate that they are not worried about our future.
Rizwan, who came to Bangalore for medical treatment, said, ‘I am waiting for an autorickshaw. there is no other way.’
Santosh of Bihar said, ‘We did not know about the protest. Now I’m stuck here, I’m calling a friend for help. ‘ Explain that the KSRTC employees have called for a strike with the following demands.
Increment, permanent job, salary, and shift. Employees working as contract employees in the department.
There have been several meetings with the Transport Union and the organization with the Transport Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Chief Minister of the state before, but nothing could be decided.
