It is being told that a vehicle carrying workers associated with the Pakistan Polio Program was bombed in the country’s troubled northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. At least 6 people, including three policemen, have been injured in this bombing.

Three frontline polio workers and three policemen were injured in Wana city of South Waziristan district as a result of the blast. The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital and their condition is said to be stable. As soon as the information was received, other police teams reached the blast site and launched a search operation to nab the accused.

Polio case found after 16 years

When there was only one case of poliovirus in 2021, the nation nearly reached zero cases. So far this year, 12 cases have been reported from Balochistan, three from Sindh and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.

Separately in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, two motorcyclists threw suicide jackets when police signaled them to stop at Jamil Chowk on the Ring Road. The bomb disposal squad has been called in to defuse the jackets containing seven kilograms of explosives.
