Retired IPS officer Amitabh Thakur has been arrested in Lucknow on Friday for abetting the suicide of a young woman who accused Bahujan Samaj Party MP Atul Rai from Ghosi in Mau.
Police arrested retired IPS officer Amitabh Thakur from his residence in Lucknow, he has been kept in Hazratganj Kotwali.
Amit Thakur is creating a ruckus there, his wife Nutan Thakur has also reached Hazratganj Kotwali during this time.
The victim, in a statement released on the Internet media in this case before self-immolation in Delhi, had accused the former IPS of saving justice at the behest of mafia Mukhtar Ansari, accusing her of mental abuse and denial of justice.
The arrest of the former IPS has taken place on the basis of the report of the SIT investigation in the case of the victim who accused BSP MP Atul Rai.
The victim, at the behest of Mukhtar Ansari, had accused former IPS Amitabh Thakur of hatching a criminal conspiracy to protect the rape accused Atul Rai.
On finding this to be true in the investigation, the Hazratganj police arrested the former IPS from his residence on Friday.

The SIT investigating the self-immolation case had registered a case against Amitabh Thakur. Since then the police were continuously stationed outside his house.
Amitabh Thakur has been arrested from outside his house in Gomtinagar today after the FIR was registered. He has been arrested for abetting the rape victim’s suicide.
Action has been taken against Amitabh Thakur on the basis of the report of the SIT investigation today.
On the instigation of Mukhtar Ansari against them, the victim had accused the victim of hatching a criminal conspiracy to save the rape accused Atul Rai.
The victim had committed self-immolation outside the Supreme Court in New Delhi recently.
