SC refuses to hear Parambir Singh’s plea, allegations considered serious; Advised to go to the High Court first.

The Supreme Court has refused to hear the plea of former Mumbai Police Chief Parambir Singh seeking a CBI probe against the alleged corrupt conduct of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

The Supreme Court has advised Parambir Singh to go to the High Court first. However, the Supreme Court has considered the allegations against Anil Deshmukh serious.

Singh has withdrawn his petition from the Supreme Court and said that he will go to the Bombay High Court.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court said that the allegations made by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner against the Maharashtra Home Minister are very serious.

The court asked senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing on behalf of Parambir Singh, why he did not go to the Bombay High Court to demand a CBI inquiry.

SC refuses to hear Plea: Along with this, the court asked Parambir Singh why he did not make Maharashtra Home Minister a party in his petition.

Parambir Singh, a 1988 batch IPS officer, has also demanded to quash his transfer from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner, as arbitrary and illegal.

As an interim relief, he has also demanded a stay on his transfer order and the state government, central government, and CBI to take CCTV footage from Deshmukh’s residence.

Parambir Singh had said that he had no option but to file a petition in the Supreme Court as the Maharashtra government withdrew its consent to investigate the crime in the state from the CBI.

Therefore, a fair and independent investigation against Deshmukh is not possible until the Supreme Court orders it.

Parambir Singh’s allegation.

Parambir said in his petition that Deshmukh had a meeting with police officers at his residence in February last, including Sachin Vajhe of the Crime Intelligence Unit and Sanjay Patil, ACP of the Social Service Branch of Mumbai.

In this meeting, ignoring the superiors, these police personnel were ordered to collect Rs 100 crore per month from various establishments in Mumbai.

Singh has alleged that Deshmukh used to interfere in the investigation of various cases.

He directed the police officers to conduct their own inquiries. Deshmukh’s activities are misuse of office. This cannot be justified in a democracy.
