Shikhar Dhawan gave his reaction by tweeting about being made the captain for the Sri Lanka tour.
A three-match ODI and T20 series will be played between Team India and Sri Lanka in July, for which the Indian team was announced on Thursday.
For this tour, in the absence of Virat Kohli, the captaincy of Team India has been handed over to Shikhar Dhawan while fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the vice-captain of the team.
Dhawan has been a part of the Indian cricket team for the last 11 years and this is the first time that he has been made the captain of the Indian team for a tour.
After this important responsibility for the Sri Lanka tour, he expressed his feelings by tweeting.
Shikhar Dhawan, who was made the captain of Team India, wrote in tweeting that, I got the opportunity to lead my country for the first time and I am grateful for it.
Thank you all for your good wishes. Talking about Shikhar Dhawan, he has played 34 Tests, 142 ODIs, and 65 T20 Internationals for India so far.
Apart from this, he is also in excellent form these days. He scored the most runs in this league till the IPL was postponed in the middle of 2021.
Team India has to play three ODIs on the Sri Lanka tour, which will start from July 13, while the T20 series will start from July 21. There are many new faces in the 20 players who have been selected for this tour.
New players like Devdutt Padikkal, Rituraj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana, Chetan Sakariya have been included in this team, while Manish Pandey has returned to the team.
Apart from this, spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been successful in making a place in the team.
