IG Kumar Vijay Kumar has confirmed the killing of the three terrorists. Lashkar-e-Taiba’s top commander Yusuf Kantor is also said to be involved in the three terrorists killed in the encounter, which started on Tuesday night.

It is also being told that Yusuf, who has been active in the Budgam district for many years, came to Hokarsar on Tuesday to involve the youth in the terrorist organization.

However, the police have not officially confirmed this. They say that the three terrorists are yet to be identified.

The bodies of the three terrorists have been recovered from the encounter site, while a large amount of arms and ammunition has also been recovered.

Police say the militants were given the opportunity to surrender two to three times during the encounter, but they refused.

Some anti-national elements also pelted stones at the security forces to hinder the encounter, but crossing all these obstacles easily, the security forces killed the three terrorists.

Security forces are still conducting search operations in the area.

At the same time, the security forces have still laid siege to the area till the search operation is completed. The encounter in Hokarsar was continuing from Tuesday evening.

The security forces suspended it as it became dark.

As soon as the dawn, the security forces once again asked the militants to surrender but when they did not agree, the security forces in response retaliated that a terrorist was killed in the morning.

After that, the remaining two terrorists were also killed by 11 am. These terrorists were hiding in a house adjacent to the highway.

The police officer said that on Tuesday evening he came to know from sources that one to two terrorists were present in Hokarsar on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Based on the information, a joint team of SOG, Army 2RR and CRPF personnel reached the area and they started a search operation.

In the house where the terrorists were suspected to be hiding, the militants started firing as soon as the soldiers came near to it.

The military authorities asked the militants to surrender but did not agree and continued the shootout. Meanwhile, security forces surrounded the house so that the terrorists could not take advantage of the darkness and escape.

As the siege strengthened, the security forces deliberately slowed down the operations so that no harm could be caused to others. However, there was intermittent firing from both sides throughout the night.

Once again in the morning, the terrorists were given a chance to surrender. When he did not accept this time also, in retaliation, the security forces were killed by the security forces till 11 am.

Meanwhile, the movement of vehicles on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway was stopped due to the ongoing encounter.

Vehicles coming from Srinagar to Baramulla, Sopore, Gulmarg were diverted from Magam-Budgam to Srinagar.

Military officials say that once the search operation is complete, the movement of vehicles on the highway will be resumed.
