The Commission has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking removal of the Madras High Court’s ‘unintentional, derogatory remarks’.
In this, it criticized the poll panel for its failure to maintain the COVID-19 protocol during the election campaign and said that it should be charged with murder charges for being ‘the most irresponsible institution’.
The Election Commission has told the Supreme Court that it (Madras High Court) has been fielded without any opportunity or seeking answers from the officials responsible under the Disaster Management Act.
Hearing the Election Commission’s plea, the Supreme Court said that the media cannot be restrained from reporting oral comments made by judges during the hearing.
The Supreme Court says that it is in the public interest when something is seen by the judges during the hearing. They say that they are also human beings and they are also stressed.
