A Pakistani soldier was killed in a small-arms attack on army personnel stationed near Turbat town in Balochistan on Thursday.

Geo News quoted the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces as saying that an operation has been launched to trace the terrorists.

“Such cowardly acts by hostile elements, backed by anti-national forces, cannot spoil the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan,” the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

It was further said, ‘Security forces are committed to neutralizing the nefarious designs of the enemies by laying down their blood and lives.’

Last month, four Pakistani soldiers were killed and eight others were injured in two single-day terrorist attacks in Balochistan.

Recently, tensions have intensified between Pakistani security forces and Baloch insurgents in the region.

Balochistan is one of the resource-rich but least developed provinces of Pakistan where the freedom movement has been going on for the past several decades.

Many Baloch people here believe that this area was independent before 1947 and was forcibly occupied by Pakistan.
