Top army commanders will meet today, will assess the security situation on LAC including eastern Ladakh.
A four-day annual conference of military commanders is starting from Monday amid the ongoing standoff with China in Ladakh.
Apart from the LAC, the security challenges of Kashmir are also expected to be discussed.
Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, and the chiefs of the three services will attend the meeting.
In the four-day conference, the country’s current security challenges, including all sensitive areas from eastern Ladakh to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, will be reviewed.
Sources said the Army commanders will also deliberate on the security situation in the Union Territory in the backdrop of incidents of civilian killings in Jammu and Kashmir in the past few weeks.
This conference will be held in New Delhi.
Officials said that Army Chief General MM Naravane and top commanders will review the country’s combat preparedness in eastern Ladakh where there has been a 17-month standoff between Indian and Chinese troops.
However, both sides have completely withdrawn troops from several points of confrontation.
Sources said the possible impact on the security of India and the region after the Taliban occupation of Afghanistan is also likely to be discussed in the meeting of military commanders.
The conference is held twice a year.
The Army said in a statement, “The Second Military Commanders’ Conference of 2021 will be held in New Delhi from October 25 to 28.
The Army Commanders’ Conference is an apex-level event held twice a year in April and October.
The Army said, ‘The top leadership of the Indian Army will brainstorm on the current and emerging security and administrative aspects to decide the future course of action of the Indian Army in the backdrop of the border situation and the challenges of the Corona epidemic.
Defense Minister will communicate with top commanders.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will interact with the top commanders of the Army.
Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary are also expected to address top officials of the Indian Army on options to boost coordination between the three services.
