Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy On J&K Issue In Lok Sabha
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said in Lok Sabha – no leader detained in Jammu and Kashmir. The government told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that there is currently no house arrest in Jammu and Kashmir. However, there are still 223 people in custody. Minister of State for Home said- Several measures have been taken to maintain Law and order in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the information received from the Jammu and Kashmir government, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy said that after the abolition of Article 370 in August last year, several measures have been taken to maintain order in the state. Many were also kept in preventive custody.
In response to a written question, Reddy said – 223 people are now in custody
In response to a written question in the Lok Sabha, he said that on September 11, 2020, 223 people were in custody in the state while no one was under house arrest. He said that since the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory from 5 August 2019, there has been a significant reduction in terrorist incidents.
From 29 June 2018 to 4 August 2019 (402 days), where 455 terrorist incidents were recorded, from August 5, 2019, to 9 September 2020 (402 days), only 211 terrorist incidents were recorded.
111 attempts to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir in one year
In the Lok Sabha, it was told by the government that in the past one year, infiltration from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir was successful in its intention in 111 cases.
Jammu and Kashmir has been plagued by cross-border sponsored terrorism for three decades
In his written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy said that Jammu and Kashmir has been plagued by cross-border sponsored terrorism for more than three decades. There were 176 infiltration attempts from August 2019 to July 2020.
In 111 cases, the intruders managed to sneak into the Indian border. However, the zero-tolerance policy adopted by the government has helped in eliminating terrorism and terrorists. From March 1 to August 31, 138 terrorists were killed this year.
During this period, 50 security personnel sacrificed their lives while firing from across the border, violating the ceasefire and terrorism.
Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh fully included in the mainstream of the country
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy also said that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have completely joined the mainstream of the country since the removal of Article 370 and reorganizing the state.
These union territories are now getting the benefit of the same government laws and facilities, which are being benefited by the people of other states of the country. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh are developing socio-economic development.
All people have been empowered by the abolition of the Discriminatory Rules Act. Those who had been discriminated against for a long time are now getting equal rights. With this change, both union territories are moving forward on the path of peace and development.
