Vaccine Wasted Before Reaching People, Accountability To Be Fixed: Corona Vaccine News.
With the increasing outbreak of Corona, the vaccination process is also moving rapidly across the country.
Scientists have speculated that the second wave of corona infection is nearing its end and the third wave is about to begin, with concerns about over-infection of children.
With this fear, the government is emphasizing giving impetus to vaccination. This is the reason that since May 1, the government has opened the way for vaccination for those who have passed the age of 18.
Amidst the shortage of vaccines in the country, the Central Government decided in the last five months between August and December that more than two billion doses of medicines will be made available in the country.
However, so far about 18 crore vaccine doses have been made in the country.
While vaccinating a large population of the country is still a big challenge, the frequent vaccine wastage is a cause of concern for the government.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Kerala for stopping the wastage of vaccines and said that reducing vaccine wastage is the most important to strengthen the war against Corona.
This is the first campaign under which the entire adult population is to be vaccinated. An average of 6.5 percent dose of Covid vaccine is being wasted in the country.
Recently, the vaccine in Haryana which can be deployed to 2.29 lakh people went in vain. Sadly, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Assam, Punjab, Manipur, and Telangana are at the forefront of vaccine wastage.
The latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has revealed that Tamil Nadu tops the list of vaccine wastage. So far, the highest dose of 12.1 percent vaccine has been wasted.
This is followed by Haryana, where so far 9.7 percent of the dose has been wasted. 8.1 percent in Punjab, eight percent in Manipur, and 7.5 percent in Telangana.
5.5 percent in Rajasthan and 4.9 percent in Bihar, and 4.2 percent in Meghalaya.
Andaman and Nicobar, Daman and Diu, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, and Mizoram are among the lowest vaccine wasters. Other states should learn from these states.
The latest review report on vaccination in states has revealed that more than 58 lakh doses of vaccines have been wasted in various states during corona vaccination in the country.
The central government bought them at the rate of Rs 150 per dose. Accordingly, the government has lost more than 87 crores within about 90 days of vaccination.
It is worth mentioning that out of 1.06 crore doses given so far in Maharashtra, the most affected state, 95 lakhs were used, while more than five lakh doses were destroyed.
Due to this, there was a loss of about seven and a half crore rupees. It is, therefore, necessary that the accountability of the states should be decided on vaccine wastage.
The vaccine is lifesaving, being used to protect people’s lives, but due to the negligence of state governments and local administrations, the vaccine continues to be a concern, which is becoming more of a concern.
