Arms Recovered In Ongoing Encounter In Rawalpora

Arms recovered in ongoing encounter in Rawalpora, Shopian: Shopian Encounter. After the encounter on Saturday night in Rawalpora of Shopian, all the routes of their escape have been closed.

Efforts were on to surrender the terrorists till late at night. It is being claimed that Jaish-e-Mohammad’s local divisional commander Vilayat alias Sajjad Afghani is also under siege.

Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, the security forces have been successful in killing a terrorist. However, the encounter is still going on.

An M-4 carbine, three magazines, and 36 rounds have been recovered from the slain terrorist. The terrorist killed in Muthabhad is a resident of Shopian and has been identified as Jahangir Ahmed Wani.

Mobile internet service stopped due to rumors.

In order to deal with the possibility of spreading rumors, the administration has also banned mobile internet service in Shopian till further orders.

According to the information, a team of militants armed with automatic weapons was seen in Rawalpora last Saturday afternoon.

On being informed by the locals, the police along with 34 Army RR and 188th soldiers of CRPF conducted a search operation in the village.

As the soldiers were advancing into the village, the terrorists hiding in a place near the fields tried to escape by breaking the siege. They opened fire on the soldiers.

Arms recovered in ongoing encounter: The jawans fired back and after that, the encounter started in the village.

When dark, the jawan stopped firing from his side to avoid any kind of civilian damage. To ensure that the terrorists do not break the siege in any way, the soldiers have surrounded the terrorists from all around.

All roads were closed with barbed wire and floodlights have been installed in the village for illumination. The officials concerned said that the terrorists are being repeatedly asked for surrender.

The help of local dignitaries is also being sought. The encounter continues on Sunday morning till the final notice is received. Repeated appeals are being made to surrender the terrorists.
