Visakhapatnam gas leak: Former Chief Minister Naidu demands action against the culprits.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed concern over the gas leak case in Visakhapatnam in which around 178 workers fell ill.

He demanded strict punishment for the culprits. He demanded the necessary treatment for the affected workers.

He asked the state government to take strict action against the culprits responsible for this gas leak case.

The TDP chief said that the government is not doing anything despite the loss of life and loss due to the accident at the LG Polymers factory in Visakhapatnam.

“It has become a curse for the public due to failure of government departments and non-monitoring,” he said.

178 women working in an apparel unit located in the Brandix SEZ near Visakhapatnam in Tamil Nadu on Friday fell ill due to a suspected ammonium gas leak from a chemical laboratory.

The gas leak was suspected from Porus Laboratories located outside the SEZ called Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) at Achutapuram.

but its impact was felt in the apparel unit located inside the SEZ, where women complained of eye irritation, nausea, and vomiting. She immediately fell unconscious after complaining.

Apparel-manufacturing units in SEZs were immediately shut down as a precaution and personnel working in other units were evacuated. After this incident, the entire area was sanitized.

State Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath informed on Friday night that the condition of the affected workers is stable and the situation is now under control.

Amarnath said, ‘Only a few laborers fainted, while most suffered burning in the eyes and nausea. They were taken to hospitals in Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam for treatment.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday constituted a commission to find out the reasons behind the gas leak. This committee has been constituted by the District Collector.

This committee was formed after the order of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy given regarding the investigation into the accident.
