Maharashtra Floods: 7 people killed in floods in 24 hours, ‘red alert’ in 7 districts.
Heavy rain continues in different parts of the country. In view of the possibility of heavy rains, the Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Red Alert’ in seven districts of Maharashtra.
Heavy to very heavy rain warnings have been issued in Palghar, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Nashik, Pune, Kolhapur, and Gadchiroli in the next 24 hours. Seven people have died due to floods in the last 24 hours.

The Indian Meteorological Institute has issued a ‘Red Alert’ in Maharashtra till July 14 in view of the possibility of heavy rains. An orange alert has been issued in Mumbai for the next 3 days.
The State Disaster Management Authority said that from June 1 to 10, the death toll due to floods has risen to 83.
In the state, 13 teams of NDRF and two teams of State Disaster Control are working in different parts.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis visited the flood-affected areas in Gadchiroli.
Talking to the media after the tour, the Chief Minister said that every year due to floods, villages and other areas of Gadchiroli district get cut off.
To deal with this problem, he talked about working on a permanent plan.
Landslides at 2 places in Pune and 3 people missing in Gadchiroli.
According to government officials, two landslides followed one after the other near the Bhimashankar temple in Khed taluka of Pune due to heavy rains.
The first landslide occurred in the morning while the second incident occurred during the afternoon the day. There is no news of any casualties in this incident.
3 people went missing in Gadchiroli due to heavy rain. Here the water level of many rivers in Nashik district has increased due to incessant rains.
Mumbai and its adjoining areas received moderate rain, but still, heavy rains are continuing in the Nashik district.
Several temples situated on the banks of river Godavari in Nashik district have been submerged.
Permanent plan to solve the problem of rain in Gadchiroli.
Chief Minister Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis inspected the Wainganga river in the Gadchiroli district and took stock of the flood situation.
After chairing a review meeting with the officials, the Chief Minister said, “A permanent plan will be prepared for the villages of Gadchiroli.”
He directed the officials to submit a proposal to prepare the plan. He ordered to start the pending work in Gadchiroli like medical college etc. at the earliest.
It has been raining heavily in Gadchiroli for the last three days. So far, a total of 313 people from 11 villages have been shifted to aid centers.
Due to heavy rains last week, communication lines in 128 villages were cut.
